Fact-checkers: Republican ads distort Democratic stances on gender surgery for minors

CNN finds deceptive Republican ads attacking Democratic candidates on gender surgery

CNN reviewed ads running in Ohio, Texas, Iowa, and South Carolina and found they use false or misleading tactics to attack Democratic Senate candidates. In Ohio, ads feature a woman claiming she had surgery "without parental consent" but she was 19 when the surgery occurred. In Texas, ads mischaracterize James Talarico's vote on a bill banning gender surgeries for minors. In Iowa, Josh Turek's vote is linked to gender surgeries despite Iowa already prohibiting them. In South Carolina, an ad features a fabricated newspaper headline claiming Annie Andrews supports surgeries for minors, which contradicts her stated opposition.
