I think there's a world wehere Microsoft starts licensing out the AOE 2 DE engine for other developers to make games in its style. Or they start licensing other IP to build it themselves. I've been playing this again, and the nostalgia lens is powerful. The final act of the game is SUCH a slog, and getting the skill points needed for late game requires so much of a grind. I literally keep falling asleep trying to get through the Pelennor Fields. It will need a lot of rebalancing on top of remastering.

A Total War Lord of the Rings would be unreal, the only real issue is that their would be limited factions, but if they did it as a more stand alone game similar to the Three Kingdoms, it would still sell and they would make money. Still the footage from TW 40k looks really good.
