A Metro grocery store in Ottawa is planning to convert to a Food Basics grocery store ("Food Basics" being Metro's discount grocery store). In doing so, most of the employees are laid off, meaning they'll have to reapply. Potentially the union, UFCW, could "file a grievance challenging a company's claim of a work shortage". Clearly should be illegal. You can’t “close” A store to reopen it under a different brand that you own.. it’s the same fucking owner.
