"Inflation rose to a 3.7 percent annual pace in September, extending a relentless climb this year pushed by surging energy prices, as many Americans are already feeling pressure..."

You don't think an Index ETF going down .7ish% in less than 5 minutes is significant? I mean I'm sure there have been bigger drops, but that feels pretty significant to me. I don't know. I've only been actively following the markets for a few years so I'm still new

0.6% m/m is the number that matters more than the 3.7% to me, the yearly figure is mostly old months rolling off. curious what core printed though, if that came in tamer than headline it's probably mostly energy and the move could fade by the afternoon

BREAKING: Inflation jumped 0.6% in September as gas and diesel prices squeezed consumers ahead of the midterms.

"Stripping out volatile food and energy costs, so-called core CPI rose 0.3% for the month and was up 2.6% on an annual basis, compared to respective estimates for 0.2% and 2.5%." I think this is what is causing the market to have a fit

US September CPI: Inflation arrived hot in September on the back of rising energy prices, transportation costs and consumer electronics all combined to drive the CPI 0.6% higher on the month and 3.7% from one year ago. Core inflation advanced at a 0.3% m/m & 2.6% pace y/y. #Econ

unh beat and raise kinda flew under the radar with all the bank stuff. medical cost ratio actually improving is the real story there imo. stock got destroyed for a year so expectations were on the floor, but still, clean quarter
-
And if these are the numbers from the regime, I expect the reality is far worse.

Republicans are entering the midterm elections with the highest rate of inflation since the spring at 3.7%, according to a government report released on Wednesday. September’s inflation rate is the highest it has been before a midterm election, with the exception of the pandemic, since 1990.

Good thing volatile food and energy do not impact our day to day lives… CPI is always nonsense. Inflation is based on what goods you want to consume, not what they deem to be the general rate

The last pre-election inflation numbers are in and they're worse than expected. US inflation jumped to 3.7% in Sep as the war in Iran drove a rebound in fuel prices, piling pressure on Americans ahead of the US midterm elections and prompting traders to ratchet up bets on Federal Reserve rate rises.

Compared to previous release: All items: 3.4% -> 3.7% But wait, why look at all items? Nobody buys food and energy. All items less food and energy: 2.4% -> 2.6% Oh shit

September brought little relief to the accelerating cost of living, as consumer prices increased again and kept the inflation rate well above the Federal Reserve's goal. - @cnbc.com

Yes to fox. I'm saying that would fix the issue with people voting against themselves and electing corrupt politicians

We're down 17% in RV parts sales over last year, haven't hired in 3 years, and not one of my people has (against my wishes since it comes from above me) seen a pay increase since last July, then it was only about 60% of my people. Booming economy my lily white ass.
