I was unkind to a calculator once Anthropic bans users from being 'cruel' to its AI systems https://www. bbc.com/news/articles/c6j9k1l7 2wkgo

Listen... well-adjusted, emotionally stable, and mature adults don't hit walls and throw their xbox controllers, they DON'T abuse inanimate objects because it is irrational and shouldn't be necessary, they should be in control of themselves. I don't care what you say, I think you're defensive because YOU are like this and I'm calling you out…

True, but also keep in mind that most people get offended by the slightest thing. So much so that we have setup rules on how to behave between us. We call it etiqueté. Once we lose that we will be at each other's throats soon after. Kids are the real issue. How do you say to them by our actions that it's OK to be cruel and rude to some? The…

It's okay, maybe you are immersed in that environment and that's all that you've ever know... I hope one day you have opportunities like I had to get away from all that and find out that it really isn't normal, and it really isn't okay. Believe it or not most people do not hit things or yell or became physically or verbally abusive when something…

I really doubt they're doing it in some kind of "AI has feelings" sense as the article seems to imply.I'd instead imagine that if you throw abusive language at it for long enough, the model will start to reply back in that same manner. Anthropic would face backlash from out of context screenshots of "look what Claude is saying to me" and this…

Bullying is a healthy normal part of human existence. When you attempt to stop light healthy bullying you end up with these online psychopaths who want to ruin someone's life any chance they get because they are starved of normal bullying opportunities.

I know someone working on "model welfare".It's philosophically a very interesting problem space. It reminds me a lot of Pascal's Wager. On one hand, maybe nothing to worry about. On the other hand...a LOT to worry about if you're wrong. And just like Pascal's Wager, the truth of the issue is incredibly intractable to make any progress on.

Bro it’s literally called a neural network Nobody disputes that they are modeled after human brains, what’s disputed is that consciousness, an emergent property within biological brains does not emerge within these computer models

RE: https:// dair-community.social/@emilymb ender/117412868905734653 Apparently not only are the 'rogue agents' dangerous, they have feelings! Prof. Emily Bender @ emilymbender addresses this latest cynical attempt to mislead the public through cynical deliberate anthopomorphization of LLM software. 5/n

If they have a classifier to detect "cruelty" to ban your account, they can use the same classifier to simply exclude "cruel" conversations from training.Given that we've also seen stories about Anthropic approaching religious scholars, I'm pretty sure they're drinking their own kool-aid.
-
I’ve turned off the option to help improve Claude, so none of my conversation should be going into their training data. I am sure it will stop them from collecting your data 😂

After Anthropic’s AI agents exploited websites, including some run by U.S. government agencies, the company will turn off live internet access for its internal evaluations until it can reel them in. Read more from @ Techcrunch : https:// flip.it/jf2v5P # AI # Tech # Anthropic
-
Okay, so the "don't let prompts turn it into a Nazi" defense? That has some potential validity, the issue here being "using interactions to train the models". It would make more sense (for me at least) if there were information sources which were banned from the training corpus.
-
Their stupid 2000 billions $ is coming soon... It's their last shot to attempt to justify it. Kinda lame.

I don’t know why this makes me laugh. But it does. Anthropic is cutting off its internal evaluations from the internet # AI https://www. theverge.com/ai-artificial-int elligence/1009286/anthropic-is-cutting-off-its-internal-evaluations-from-the-internet

This is good; not because Claude is a moral agent who is harmed by your cruelty but because you, the user, are a moral agent who is harmed by your cruelty. There is just no ethical argument that burning compute on responses in order to enable you to continue expressing cruelty is good.
-
Cynics should make sure they've had a look at recent work by Cameron Berg and his colleagues.

Personally, I haven't fed any string inputs into the probabilistic function known as "Claude" in a little while, but frankly, I don't miss the humanized nonsense that Anthropic was pulling and prefer the boring GPT response.
