More than that, it almost seems like he was hoping to both pull a Houdini act while playing the part of the victim as the press pool also gets eliminated and freeing him from scrutiny for awhile. This entire conflict it's felt like Iran is playing chess while the US is playing checkers. They have almost no leverage, but they're using every ounce they have. Whereas we are just throwing bombs at them every few weeks like a petulant child wiping clear the board because he's losing.
