I was surprised to learn my credit union has a better HYSA rate than capital one's which was nice!

when I was choosing, I looked interest rates on the savings/checking, if there was fees, minimum balances or deposits required. Also looked at the sheer convenience of the physical bank locations and ATMs. Do they have a nice website that's easy to use? I'm really happy with mine

They are all better than banks. They aren't trying to make a profit for their shareholders. They are trying to serve their members' interests. It ends up being better loan rates, less scammy practices than banks. Look into the controversies surrounding wells fargo and the many falsely opened accounts done by pressured employees. You're overthinking and overstressing. Go with whoever has the best interest rate for the amount of effort you're willing to put in. Some places will give you 4% for doing nothing, other places will give you 6% if you do 12 debits. It's also not a lifetime commitment, you can absolutely have two credit unions or switch to another one. Heck, half…
