What to know

  • GamesBeat's report, citing four anonymous industry sources, is the first specific PC timeline for GTA 6; Rockstar has not confirmed it.
  • A Q1 2027 PC launch would be a far faster turnaround than GTA V's roughly 19-month console-to-PC gap, giving the console version only two to five months of exclusivity.
  • The quick PC release would be a precursor to GTA 6 Online and Rockstar's modding/user-generated-content plans via its FiveM-owning studio Cfx.re.
  • An analyst flagged that the timing doesn't appear reflected in Take-Two's current earnings guidance, raising questions about financial expectations.

“A Rockstar Games representative did not respond to a request for comment prior to the publication of this article.”

Analyst questions whether Take-Two's guidance accounts for Q1 PC launch

A financial commentator pointed out that a Q1 2027 PC release would fall in Take-Two's fiscal Q4 2027, which doesn't appear to be reflected in the company's current, relatively modest earnings projections.

“Fairly astonishing if GTA 6 on PC landed in calendar Q1 2027 (i.e. Jan 1 - March 31, which is Take-Two's FY27 Q4), because a GTA 6 PC release doesn't appear to be baked into their earnings projections (which looked 'modest' in any case at $8.0 to $8.02 bn).”

Eurogamer corroborates report, ties timing to GTA Online plans

Eurogamer's writeup noted the report would give GTA 6 only two-to-five months of console exclusivity, far shorter than GTA V's and Red Dead Redemption 2's PC gaps, and linked the quick PC turnaround to Rockstar's plans for GTA 6 Online, which Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has said is coming in 2027.

“You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer…”
