What to know
- Trump's deal with Putin allows Russian diesel exports onto global markets despite Western sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine.
- Zelensky disputes the economic rationale, estimating Russia's potential exports at 300,000-500,000 tons a month against global consumption of about 120 million tons.
- Zelensky offers a counter-proposal: Ukraine halts strikes on Russian oil infrastructure if the US guarantees protection for Ukraine's electricity grid.
- A Trump-announced 'energy ceasefire' has no confirmed terms, timetable or monitoring mechanism, and Kyiv says it learned of it only through media reports.

Its funny when you think about it being Russia and USA have been nemesis since forever Not really. The only instances of Russia and the USA being actual anémies would be the cold war, and that's really just 50 years or so. Before WW2 they barely had any contact and after 1991 there was a few decades of relaxation of relations.
