Google lets Android users build and run AI-coded apps via Play Store, no developer account needed
Google is letting anyone turn AI Studio "vibe-coded" creations into private Android apps installable straight from Google Play, with group sharing and a path to public release coming later.
What to know
- Users with a standard Google account can now publish AI Studio-built Android apps privately through the Play Store, with no $25 developer fee.
- Private apps are installed via a new 'Personal Library' on-device and are not reviewed by Google since they stay out of the public catalog.
- Sharing with a small group of friends/family is coming in the following months, as is an onboarding path to convert a private app into a publicly listed, professionally reviewed one.
- The launch coincides with other AI-driven Play Store features: an expanded Ask Play search assistant and a new Game Finder recommendation engine.
“We started Google Play with a simple goal: to connect you with the apps you love. But after today, we hope it's clear: Play has evolved to become so much more than that.”

Apps stay private in a personal library, sharing stays limited for now — The launched apps create a private 'Personal Library' visible only to the creator by default; Google has not yet defined how many people count as the 'small group' it will soon allow creators to share with.

Google lets standard accounts launch personal apps via Play Store
Google announced that users can now launch AI Studio-built personal apps directly from the Play Store using a standard Google account, removing the need to sideload APK files or use a developer console.
“the future of apps on Google Play is personal, secure, and built by everyone — and it's why Play is leading the charge and moving from 'there's an app for that' to 'there's an app for me,'”
