Ossoff pledges to serve full Senate term, rules out 2028 presidential bid
In a heated Georgia debate, Sen. Jon Ossoff told voters he has "zero interest" in running for president and will serve out a full six-year term if reelected.
What to know
- Ossoff's pledge is his most unequivocal rejection yet of persistent 2028 presidential speculation, despite strong polling and fundraising.
- If elected, Ossoff's new term would run through early 2033, meaning a presidential bid would require giving up his Senate seat, which he said he would not do.
- The debate was marked by sharp exchanges over white nationalism tied to Collins' family, the Epstein files, and death threats against Collins.
- National Democrats appear confident in Ossoff's reelection: the Senate Majority PAC pulled planned ad spending from the Georgia race the same day.
“I condemn any sort of hate speech. Antisemitism, hate of any kind. It’s abhorrent.”

I think in AOC’s case Mamdani has shown what a democratic socialist can achieve and 2028 might be the best chance she’d ever get of becoming president. I also don’t think she had any serious Presidential ambitions in her life and probably is hesitant to seek out that position (which imo makes her the preferred kind of person to have that job)…
