What to know
- Ukraine accuses SpaceX of disabling military-grade Starlink terminals without warning, crippling drone operations during intensifying Russian attacks on power infrastructure.
- The accusation reflects a sharp deterioration in U.S.–Ukraine relations after Trump lifted Russian sanctions, pressured Kyiv to halt refinery strikes, and called for Zelenskiy's removal.
- Poland, which funds Ukrainian Starlink, publicly challenged Musk; Russia continued striking energy targets despite Trump's announced ceasefire, undermining U.S. credibility with Kyiv.
- SpaceX has not responded to the accusation; the timing raises concerns about whether Trump administration allies are restricting battlefield support to compel Ukrainian concessions.

Zelenskiy interprets Russian strikes as deliberate snub to Trump's ceasefire statement
Zelenskiy cast the latest Russian attacks on power stations as a deliberate demonstration that Russia does not respect Trump's ceasefire declaration, citing the scale and timing of the strikes.
“Russia does not consider the American President's statements strong. The strike was entirely deliberate and demonstrative in its scale.”

I hate Musk as well but I don’t think you can call SpaceX a vanity project. It’s the #1 launch provider in the world and they do it cheaper than anyone else with the highest reliability. Starlink is also starting to make a good amount of revenue. Last year starlink provided 4.3 billion to the company up 66% YoY. Thats pretty good.

Ukrainian military officials said SpaceX had without warning interrupted functioning of military-grade Starlink terminals moving at high speed, preventing their use as onboard guides for drones. Presidential adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov said the limitation disrupted several missions.
“Our defence forces did not receive a warning about this limitation, and this led to the disruption of several missions.”

It seems that SpaceX has started restricting usage over Ukraine, likely due to a request from Trump's administration. Russia can cut off water and power to Kyiv and they get rewarded, Ukraine defend themselves and get punished. The US is not a reliable partner for Europe.
