Trump's turn toward Russia is a genuine betrayal of Ukraine, and Zelensky's blunt response is overdue and justified.

“I think it's just become clear that the US's relationship with Ukraine is past the point of saving, he's tried appeasing Trump and it's not changed anything. Trump has continued to bow to his Russian master.”

The 'betrayal'/breakup framing is overstated or misreported; this is about a narrower refinery-strike dispute, not a full rupture.

“This headline is problematic. The words refer to Zelensky talking about the refinery bombing ceasefire agreement, and not a 'you, me, we're done' type breaking of a relationship. Typical telegraph bullshit”

Trump's pivot is driven by domestic politics and great-power maneuvering (China, gas prices, midterms) rather than concern for Ukraine.

Zelensky says Ukraine will resume strikes on Russian refineries
Zelensky announces Kyiv will resume strikes on Russian oil refineries, reversing the pause the White House had pressed for, in what commentators call his most candid break yet with Trump.
“Ukraine to resume strikes on Russian refineries, Zelenskyy says. This is the most honest interview with Zelensky I've ever read. He drops all niceties about Trump and says it how it is.”
— Bill Browder -

Long term my honest assessment of the situation, 5/10 years from now, is that Russia and Europe will end up knocking the shit out of each other Except that Russia are in no way capable of fighting a conventional war against Europe, especially as Ukraine has depleted most of their good equipment. The main reason most of Europe has taken a hands-off…

Zelensky says on Piers Morgan he feels 'betrayed' by Trump
In an interview aired on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Zelensky says Trump's advisers have pushed him to 'the wrong side of history' over the Russia deal, and directly confirms he feels betrayed when asked by Morgan.
“If you're in the middle, you have to stay in the middle, not on the wrong side. I think Trump's advisers are wrong. I don't know who is pushing him to the wrong side. This is not the right side of history…”

RE: https:// mstdn.social/@ukrdef/117432752 066191763 Kellogg is correct: The tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy, a lot of it based on (deliberate?) mistranslations, is the noise we should be ignoring. That noise is the way Russian propaganda injects itself into the conversation.

While I understand this stance, it's counterproductive. Trump is a toddler; when you address him sternly, he'll cry. The problem is that this toddler is almighty and is aware of that. It's why Mark Rutte goes out of his way to keep pleasing him. Zelenskyy should have kept doing the same.
-
Unfortunately I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s just become clear that the US’s relationship with Ukraine is past the point of saving, he’s tried appeasing Trump and it’s not changed anything. Trump has continued to bow to his Russian master. He has no further reason to be polite with him.

Fucking do something about it then. I'm sick of these statements by Americans, two thirds of you either support him or didn't care enough to bother to stop him. Get of your asses and do something, stop moralising behind a screen and actually fucking act.
-
Don't know if a good ideea but I will love Mr Zelensky answer next time with something like this: "Mr Trump, you are the worst president in US history and you don't have the cards. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Signed, Zelensky".
-
Didn't Trump pivot to Putin now due to gas prices? Election coming up, Republicans are likely to fly out of majority like morons. Gas is a good way to suck up to fools and still vote Republicans in midterms...

Ukraine just needs to hold on for a few months and hope the election in America turns sourly against trump. After that he may just needs to hold on until the next US president arrives to help a bit more. Anyone against Ukraine where Russia is the aggressor and the invader needs to have their brain checked.

As someone not from the US, i fund his idea better, like realistically how much will your donation do for Ukraine when it comes to buying missiles capable intercepting ballistic rockets for the winter. It makes sense if you consider that the thing that the US cares about the most is China, and weakening the relationship with Russia. Weakening Europe is obviously also a plus, but imho it's moreso about becoming buddies with Russia and selling them the idea of a world dominating Washington-Moscow future. So far however Russia seems completely…
