Apple's new Apple TV 4K jumps to $299 with Siri AI and A19 chip

What to know

  • Apple's fourth-generation Apple TV 4K adds built-in far-field microphones, hands-free Siri AI, a 50% faster CPU, 2x faster GPU, AV1 decoding and Wi-Fi 7.
  • Only one configuration is offered — 128GB — priced at $299, more than double the device's $129 starting price earlier in 2026.
  • A new Siri Remote with Find My support ships alongside the device.
  • Early reaction across outlets and social media centers almost entirely on the price increase, with comparisons to far cheaper rivals like Roku.

The dispute Some commenters frame the high price as simply unacceptable, while others (like Viticci) grudgingly accept it as the best available option despite the cost. · positions read across 7 posts and comments

The $299 price is excessive for what is essentially a streaming box.

The hardware/software changes themselves are minor and not worth highlighting as a major announcement.

Commentators and social users slam the $299 price tag

Tech commentators and social media users criticized the new price as excessive given the device's role as a set-top box, with some noting it remains the least-bad option on the market.

“$299 is way too expensive for an Apple TV and the Apple TV is the only option on the market that doesn't SUCK imo pick your poison…”
