What to know

  • Apple's HomeView launches in two models — speaker-base and wall-mounted — both priced at $299.
  • The wall-mounted version omits the mount and power hardware needed to install it, adding at least $59 to its real cost.
  • The wall-mounted model also has a weaker speaker system (missing the woofer and passive radiators) and fewer color choices than the speaker-base version.
  • Buyers and commentators have criticized Apple for charging the same price for less included hardware.

The dispute Commenters agree the pricing is odd, but differ on whether it's simply confusing packaging or a deliberate markup similar to past accessory pricing complaints. · positions read across 17 posts and comments

The pricing is confusing or unfair: the wall-mounted model has less included hardware but costs the same once a mount is added.

  • “Why does the HomeView (Wall Mounted) not cost less than the regular HomeView with a speaker base ($299)?... you don't save any money by going without the speaker base?”

I’m genuinely shocked that Apple is offering a PoE mount for the wall-mount HomeView. A shocking admission that there are ways of powering devices that are neither USB-C nor completely proprietary. I’m _not at all_ shocked it’s 43% of the price of the device.

      # Apple # HomeView for your wall doesn’t include the mount, which costs $59 minimum on top of the $300 price of the device itself. Imagine if Louis Vuitton sold a $4000 bag that didn't include the shoulder strap and asked you to pay another 20% on top for the strap! https:// 9to5mac.com/2026/10/13/homevie…

MacRumors details further hardware and color differences

The wall-mounted HomeView also comes in fewer color options (silver and space gray only) and lacks the down-firing woofer and force-canceling passive radiators found in the speaker-base model.

Reporters find the wall version excludes its mount

9to5Mac and MacRumors detailed that the Wall Mounted HomeView, despite costing the same as the speaker-base model, does not come with the mount or power hardware required to install it; Apple sells three Schneider Home-made mounts starting at $59, with a third arriving in early 2027.

“Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) requires a mount and power solution to operate.”

Buyers on social media criticize the matching $299 pricing

Users pointed out that the wall-mounted model ships without the extra speaker, USB-C cable, and 30W wall brick included with the standard model, yet costs the same amount once a mount is factored in.

“The pricing of the Apple Homeview confuses me... both cost $300.”

    • The pricing of the Apple Homeview confuses me There's a normal version which includes an additional speaker, USB-C cable and 30W wall brick. Then there is the wall-mounted one that doesn't include any of that. ... both cost $300.

Apple unveils HomeView smart display in two $299 models

Apple launched HomeView, a smart home display, in a standard version with a speaker base and a Wall Mounted version, both priced at $299. Pre-orders opened immediately with deliveries starting November 13.
